Southwest Still Life

...Southwest Still Life...
This is an original oil painting by Ruth Housley of a Southwest Still Life.

I had the inspiration to do this with the larger pottery on the right, adding corn, and a chile pepper.  I drew the pottery in art class several years ago and  the rest of the painting I made up to have different shapes and sizes to add interest to this painting.

..."The Last Supper"...
My husband and I went to see Picturing The Bible - The Earliest Christian Art at Kimbell Art Museum this past week.  It was interesting and enjoyed viewing all the world's great collections including the Vatican, the British Museum, the Louvre,  and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Very interesting and enjoyed viewing this at the Museum in Fort Worth.

This has been on display since November 18th and will end on the 30th of March 2008.

Forsythia And Fruit

...Forsythia and Fruit...
This is an orignal oil painting by Ruth Housley of Forsythia flowers with fruit on an 8x10 canvas panel.
The still life is similar to the one I did in 2006 of flowers and apples.

It is a commissioned painting that I did for a relative and she bought the other one from me which she gave to her daughter and wanted another one for herself.

I have lots of compliments on this particular painting because of the brightness of the Forsythia flowers.
