Majestic American Bald Eagle

...Majestic American Bald Eagle...
The eagle is a large bird of prey, with sharp keen vision and powerful wings for flight as well as their strength.
The eagle has the largest nest of any birds.  They usually build their nests close to water so they can feed their young easily.  They do put some greenery in their nests also.  This is an original oil painting by Ruth Housley.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting this eagle.  The nest was fun to paint and they do have a large nest for themself and their young.

Peaceful Autumn Day

...Peaceul Autumn Day...
The bright colors of the trees in the background against the blue sky makes a peaceful scene. A place to go fishing and sit on the rocks and enjoy the day. Or just sit on the rocks and read a good book and enjoy the scene. This is an original oil painting by Ruth Housley.

I enjoy the autumn season with all the bright colors of the trees and the blue of the sky is complimentary to the leaf colors.

...Oil Paintings...

 ·        Cat Portrait (Precious) – 12x9 on Canvas, oil medium

     ·        Red Rose – 10x8 Gallery Wrap Canvas, oil medium

Someone asked me at a show last year if I had any red rose paintings and I did not.  I painted one and the person did not give me their name or telephone number so I could call them when I had it available.

The cat portrait I did for my daughter.  Her favorite color is green and I did the bed linens in green because that was where the cat was lying from the photo I had to go by to do this painting.  She had this cat when she first got married and they had it for a while before her first daughter was born and the cat got jealous and ran away from home.  The cat did come back again but then ran away again and they never did see it anymore.

My daughter has two Siamese cats that they call Kristy and
Smokey.  They look alike and I can’t tell them apart but they know the difference.

We have had ice a couple of times this year and the first time was January 5, 2009.  The robins were in our back yard as well as our front yard   The robins came in larger flocks and they were in the trees as well.

I was in Hobby Lobby one Saturday a few weeks ago after the holidays and I met a lady that was looking at art supplies and mentioned that she did not know what to get as far as oil painting supplies for her friend.  The friend wanted to get started in oil painting and she was getting an easel, oil paints, brushes and other art supplies.   I did help her with what she was looking for and offered her a store coupon for Michaels and also gave her Hobby Lobby store coupons since I was not going to use either one of the two.   I know the store coupons helped her out and she was appreciative.

I am working on an Autumn scene and it is one of my favorite times of the year as well as Spring.  The Autumn season with the changing of the leaves on the trees with the burst of color is exciting to view.  In the spring the new growth and the flowers ready to burst into bloom is also exciting to see.
