..."The Legend of the Dogwood Tree"...
I finished "The Legend of the Dogwood Tree" painting that I had been working on.  It is a Biblical painting as well as Floral.   It is on a Floating Canvas which is a Corner Canvas and size is 12x12.  This is an orignal Fine Art Oil Painting by Ruth Housley.

The scripture for this painting is Acts 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree."

The background colors are:
Red which signifies the blood of Jesus dying for our sins on the cross
Blue signifies truth in the Word of God
Purple signifies the Royalty of our Lord
White signifies the Purity of our Lord

Being A Better Artist

...News...
Spirituality is personal but the growth in it has made me a better artist and I am grateful.  I got my last inspiration from God about "The Burning Bush".  In the Old Testament of the Bible Exodus 3:2 "And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him (Moses) in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed."

Moses stood afar off and seen the great light at the top of Mt. Sinai and wanted to see what it was. He traveled up to Mt. Sinai and came to the place that the bush was burning but not consumed and God told him to take off his sandals because it was Holy ground.  That is where God gave him the Ten Commandments.

When he went to Egypt to tell the Pharoah to let his people go, he took Aaron with him to do the speaking for him. God kept hardening Pharoah 's heart and not let the people go.

Being creative has been very uplifting and all the thanks goes to God.  He gave me the talent but never had a chance to pursue it until later in my years.  I am so thankful that I did get the opportunity to take art classes and then be able to create art that is pleasing to the eye as well as for the viewer.

...Other Artists...
I want to give credit to Connie Tom, Marsha Robinette, Sharon Weaver and Carol Zirkle for their fine art that they do and display on their websites.  Connie Tom and Marsha Robinette display also on Goggle Blogger.
Connie's art is luminous with bright colors and is very uplifting to view her art.
On the other hand Marsha does carbon graphite pencil and has been doing watercolor recently and does a fabulous job with both.
Sharon does plein air paintings and travels to places with friends to do outside painting.  I admire her for that kind of painting in the great outdoors with all the elements to contend with.
Carol does very beautiful skyscapes as well as landscapes in pastel and displayed on her website.

"The Burning Bush"

..."The Burning Bush"
This is an inspirtation from the Lord and I wanted to paint it as he showed it to me.

This is an original oil painting by Ruth Housley of a prophetic painting "The Burning Bush". Moses went to Mt. Sinai to see this great light coming from the top of the mountain. He stood before God on Holy ground and God told him to take his sandals off. That is when God gave him the (10) Ten Commandments. Mt Sinai had a cloud cover for six days and like a mist of cloud.
Exodus 19:18 "And Mt. Siani was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in a fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

Exodus 3:2 "And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him (Moses) in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed."

Woodward Park, Oklahoma 11x14 oil medium on canvas

Sunset over Water 8x10 oil medium on gallery wrap canvas

My husband was in the hospital for three weeks and I did not get to paint as much as I wanted to going back and forth to the hospital.  He is home and doing good and thanks for all the prayers.

My daughter finally picked up the cat portrait that I did for her.  It was the cat (Precious) that she used to have when the kids were very young.  She has two Siamese cats now and I can’t tell them apart.

I have a blog spot that you can see my art as well as on www.RuthHousley.com

It is www.RuthHousleyblogspot.com.   I also like to put scriptures below my art too.

My oldest granddaughter is the art lover and the other granddaughter is into cheerleading for one of the high schools in Plano.  She is excited about getting into cheerleading.  She likes it a lot and was always a social person.

Some of my paintings I really get so inspired and can’t wait to get them started and enjoy going through the process of completing them.

...Sunrise Over Ocean City...
This is an original oil painting by Ruth Housley.  I have taken many photos of sunsets and sunrises over the years as I have already said before. I enjoy photographing them as well as painting them.
